In the high-speed gasoline engine of modern cars, the microprocessor controlled ignition system, also known as digital electronic control ignition system, has been adopted. This ignition system consists of a microcomputer (computer), various sensors and ignition actuators.

Since the electronic ignition circuit is responsible for the on-off of the primary coil of the ignition coil, the distributor has canceled the breaker device and only plays the role of high-voltage power distribution.
Double-cylinder ignition means that two cylinders share an ignition coil, so this ignition method can only be used on engines with an even number of cylinders. This ignition method realizes accurate ignition by camshaft sensor or by monitoring cylinder compression. It is suitable for any number of cylinders of engine, especially for engines with 4 valves per cylinder. Because the spark plug ignition coil combination can be installed in the middle of the DOHC, making full use of the gap space. Due to the cancellation of the distributor and high-voltage wire, the energy transmission loss and leakage loss are very small, and there is no mechanical wear. Moreover, the ignition coil and spark plug of each cylinder are assembled together and wrapped with metal, which greatly reduces the electromagnetic interference and can ensure the normal operation of the engine electronic control system.
