What are the symptoms of aging ignition coils?

1. The aging ignition coil will make the car body shake obviously when the car is idling, and the air flow of exhaust gas will also have obvious intermittence. It will also make the exhaust pipe shake so much that you can hear a sudden sound.

2. The ignition coil is aging. When the motor vehicle is turned on for observation, it will be found that the engine has obvious jitter, which is not in normal working condition. In this case, the ignition coil needs to be replaced in time.

In the high-speed gasoline engine of modern cars, the microprocessor controlled ignition system, also known as digital electronic control ignition system, has been adopted. This ignition system consists of a microcomputer (computer), various sensors and ignition actuators.

In fact, in modern engines, the two subsystems of gasoline injection and ignition are controlled by the same ECU and share a set of sensors. The sensors are basically the same as those in the electronic fuel injection system, such as crankshaft position sensor, camshaft position sensor, throttle position sensor, intake manifold pressure sensor, knock sensor, etc. The deflagration sensor is a very important sensor for electronic control ignition (especially for engines with exhaust gas turbocharging device). It can monitor whether the engine is deflagrated and the degree of deflagration. As a feedback signal, the ECU commands to achieve ignition advance, so that the engine will not deflagrate and can obtain high combustion efficiency.

Digital electronic control ignition system (ESA) is divided into distributor type and non-distributor type (DLI) according to its structure. The distributor type electronic control ignition system uses only one ignition coil to generate high voltage, and then the distributor ignites the spark plugs of each cylinder in sequence according to the ignition sequence. Since the electronic ignition circuit is responsible for the on-off of the primary coil of the ignition coil, the distributor has canceled the breaker device and only plays the role of high-voltage power distribution.

Two-cylinder ignition

Double-cylinder ignition means that two cylinders share an ignition coil, so this ignition method can only be used on engines with an even number of cylinders. If on a four-cylinder engine, when two cylinder pistons are close to the top dead center at the same time (one is compression and the other is exhaust), the two spark plugs share the same ignition coil and ignite at the same time. At this time, one is effective ignition and the other is ineffective ignition. The former is in the mixture of high pressure and low temperature, and the latter is in the exhaust gas of low pressure and high temperature, so the resistance between the two spark plug electrodes is completely different, and the energy generated is also different, The energy leading to effective ignition is much larger, accounting for about 80% of the total energy.

Individual ignition

The separate ignition mode is that each cylinder is allocated with an ignition coil, which is directly installed on the top of the spark plug, which also cancels the high-voltage wire. This ignition method realizes accurate ignition by camshaft sensor or by monitoring cylinder compression. It is suitable for any number of cylinders of engine, especially for engines with 4 valves per cylinder. Because the spark plug ignition coil combination can be installed in the middle of the DOHC, making full use of the gap space. Due to the cancellation of the distributor and high-voltage wire, the energy transmission loss and leakage loss are very small, and there is no mechanical wear. Moreover, the ignition coil and spark plug of each cylinder are assembled together and wrapped with metal, which greatly reduces the electromagnetic interference and can ensure the normal operation of the engine electronic control system.
